Martin Schneider Named Global Finalist in 2017 Charlotte CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards

August 31, 2017

Martin Schneider, Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO), was recently named a global finalist in the Charlotte CIO of the Year ORBIE® Awards, which recognizes CIOs who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.

Finalists and winners were selected through an independent peer review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients, based on:

  • The size and scope of responsibilities;
  • Leadership and management effectiveness;
  • Business value created by technology innovation; and
  • Engagement in industry and community endeavors.

“It is an honor to be recognized with this impressive group of leaders,” said Martin. “I am fortunate to work alongside some of the best teams in the industry, and, together, we have transformed VF’s IT function into a valued, strategic partner that is helping to drive our business forward.”

Martin joined VF in 2006 and has successfully managed numerous large-scale projects that enabled VF and its brands to navigate rapid technological changes, while also ensuring that VF associates have the tools and resources to work anywhere in the world.

Prior to joining VF, Martin served as Vice President of Global Technical & Manufacturing Systems for The Gillette Company in Boston, Mass., where he was responsible for all order-to-cash manufacturing, supply chain and procurement systems on a global basis.

“The individuals who have earned these awards are the best and brightest leaders – not just within Charlotte chief information officers, but in the categories they represent,” said Melissa Sawyer, Executive Director of CharlotteCIO. “In today’s interconnected world, organizations that win in the marketplace benefit from the superior strategic planning and day-to-day execution these CIOs bring to the table.”

Since inception in 1998, the ORBIE Awards have honored more than 500 CIOs as finalists and more than 100 CIO of the Year winners.
