Q&A with Joe Bryant II, Manager, Inclusion & Diversity

December 22, 2017

Joe Bryant II, Manager, Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) Workforce Programs and Strategy, has made a point to make his mark at VF and on the greater Greensboro community. It’s part of building his personal brand, a key piece of advice he received from a mentor in his early days at VF.

He’s held multiple roles in his four years with the company and has gained experience in everything from talent acquisition and development to associate relations and new hire orientation, global mobility, VF’s summer internship program and more.

In his current role, Bryant is responsible for supporting VF’s employee resource group (ERG) infrastructure globally, and serving as Program Manager for VF’s Inclusion & Diversity efforts.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

My eighth grade teacher always said “you never get a second chance to make a first impression,” and that saying has stuck with me. Often, conversations about your career development happen when you are not in the room. If you create a positive personal brand, opportunities open for you. This also aligns with my beliefs that you should treat everyone with respect and be kind to people.

What has been your proudest achievement at VF?

I’m really proud of my work to help build the 2017 VF Internship Program in Greensboro. This year we had more than 20 interns at our WHQ and Jeanswear offices. Several of the interns were hired into full-time roles, which is exciting for both them and us.

What do you like most about working at VF?

In my previous role, I focused on presenting great talent to our hiring managers, and I loved being the person to lobby for people who were early on in their careers. My new role is about connecting like-minded people and creating an environment where associates feel included, appreciated, and valued while contributing to VF’s overall business objectives and helping us win in the marketplace. I’m excited about getting the chance to travel, meet associates from around the world, and experience each brand’s culture.
