Basis of Presentation |
Note A — Basis of Presentation VF Corporation (and its subsidiaries, collectively known as “VF”) uses a 52/53 week fiscal year ending on the Saturday closest to December 31 of each year. For presentation purposes herein, all references to periods ended September 2012, December 2011 and September 2011 relate to the fiscal periods ended on September 29, 2012, December 31, 2011 and October 1, 2011, respectively. The accompanying unaudited consolidated financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the instructions to Form 10-Q and Rule 10-01 of Regulation S-X and do not include all of the information and notes required by generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) in the United States of America for complete financial statements. Similarly, the December 2011 consolidated balance sheet was derived from audited financial statements but does not include all disclosures required by GAAP. In the opinion of management, the accompanying unaudited consolidated financial statements contain all normal and recurring adjustments necessary to fairly present the consolidated financial position, results of operations and cash flows of VF for the interim periods presented. Operating results for the three and nine months ended September 2012 are not necessarily indicative of results that may be expected for any other interim period or for the year ending December 29, 2012. For further information, refer to the consolidated financial statements and notes included in VF’s Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 2011 (“2011 Form 10-K”). |
