Lee Body Optix x Cushnie Debuts at New York Fashion Week
A new collaboration between Lee® and women’s wear designer Carly Cushnie fuses the figure-flattering science of Body Optix with Cushnie’s reputation for body-con designs.
To create Lee Body Optix, designers and scientists at VF Corporation’s Cognitive and Design Lab used advanced material research, imaging technologies and lasers to add shading and contours to denim fabric – harnessing VF’s “design science” concept.
The fabric is further enhanced with strategically placed seams and pockets that visually lengthen the leg, slim the thigh, lift the seat and contour the waist. The Spring 2019 release of Lee Body Optix, marks a fresh direction for the denim industry by bringing designers and scientists together in a truly innovative way.
Lee Body Optix partnered with Cushnie to bring her eye for sophisticated, feminine design to denim. The 2019 collection debuted at New York Fashion Week, featuring silhouettes inspired by 1970’s retro fashion. Styles include flare and boyfriend jeans, dresses, jumpsuits and tops.
“Carly and her team took the lead in creating the look of the collection. We were thrilled to work with the Cushnie team to combine their sense of cutting edge, body conscious fashion, with Lee’s new Body Optix technology,” said Patricia Shipp, Senior Designer, Lee.
The collection marks Lee’s first partnership with a luxury designer in the United States. Notably, the show was also Carly Cushnie’s first solo season on the runway.
